Exhibition dedicated to the 10th anniversary of The "Nuance" Group
(Victor Bogorad, Leonid Melnik and Vyacheslav Shilov).


The "NUANCE" Group was formed in St Petersburg in the beginning of 1997 and consists of three caricaturists. These are Victor Bogorad, Leonid Melnik and Vyacheslav Shilov. The basis of the group's formation is the principle of professionalism and solidarity, which has helped its members during all these years to hold united exhibitions of caricature, to issue books and to realize other joint humourous projects (detailed information about the group can be found on the web site http://www.cartoon.spb.ru).

Yuliya Bezshtanko,
"Moving towards the Black",
graphic arts, photography, objects, installation.

The exhibition project "Movement towards the Black" presents the work of a young author, the artist Yuliya Bezshtanko. Having received an academical school of education (The St Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy, The Department of Set Design and Stage Technology), Bezshtanko freely works with various forms and genres of art, quite well fitting in the sphere of the so-called "contemporary art". The courage of the experiment in dealing with various materials and techniques, the imagery and conceptualness of the artistic thinking, the skill in working with space and, as a whole, – the polystylism and synthesis that reside in Bezshtanko undoubtedly show the author's nature of a theatre artist. But at the same time all this results in an opportunity to present the work of Yuliya Bezshtanko as the work of a bright contemporary artist.
